Sports Day
BBQ and early Nepali New Year - The
ANFS organised a sportsday and Nepali New Year
Vikram Sambat 2066 celebration on Saturday 28 March
2009 in Black Mountain Peninsula. Several teams
participated in volley ball game. In addition,
a number of fun games for children and adults were
organised. Aussie BBQ and Nepali snacks were served
to approximately 70 participants.

Bush
Camp 2008 – Zeenat and Bob Burdick hosted a
bush camp for the ANFS members and friends at
Bendora dam on 22 and 23 November 2008. About
40 people took part in the camp. For some of
the participants it was a life time experience due
to weather condition and spirit of participation.
The ANFS is thankful to Zeenat and Bob.

Dashain 2008 – Dashain is celebrated in
Nepal for fourteen days to mark a victory of good
over evil. It is largest festival in Nepal and is
usually falls in the month of October. On 12 October
2008, the ANFS organised Dashain festival in a
formal way with distinguished guests.

Minister for Multicultural Affairs Mr. John
Hargreaves, Shadow Minister for Multicultural
Affairs Mr. Steve Pratt, Senator the Hon Gary
Humphries and His Excellency Mr. Yogendra Dhakal,
Ambassador of Nepal were the invited guests.
Local community members presented a Nepalese
cultural program. The Dashain celebration was
partially supported by the ACT Government’s
Multicultural Grants Program 2008-09.

Teej 2008
– Teej is a cultural festival for Nepalese women.
ANFS organised a get-together for interested women
living in Canberra area to celebrate Teej on
Saturday 30 August 2008. There were
approximately 50 participants.
