  • Reception for Australian Ambassador to Nepal: The ANFS hosted a reception and farewell dinner to honour newly appointed Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Mrs. Susan Grace on Monday 2 March 2009.  Mr. Shanker Bairagi, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Nepal represented the Nepali Ambassador on the occasion.  There were about 60 members of Nepalese community members or friends of Nepal at the reception program.  Mrs. Grace is resident Ambassador to Nepal and is based in Kathmandu, Nepal.
  • Workshop on Recommendation to Constitution drafting in Nepal: In response to the appeal issued by Embassy of Nepal, the Australia Nepal Friendship Society Inc., Canberra, organised a one day workshop on Sunday 22 February 2009 at the Australian National University to compile the views of Nepali people living in Australia on the key concepts and contents to be incorporated in the future constitution of Nepal.  The workshop was attended by about 20 inter state and local participants.
  • Participation in National Multicultural Festival 2009, Canberra: The ANFS represented the Nepalese community in National Multicultural Festival Canberra by participating in the cultural program and food stall.  The festival was organised by the Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services, Australian Capital Territory on Saturday 7 February 2009. Our participation in the festival was made possible by the ACT Government’s Multicultural Grants Program 2008-09. 
  • Nepal: Forging a New Beginning’ workshop – The ANFS hosted a one-day workshop on the topic ‘Nepal: Forging a New Beginning’ on Sunday, 5 October 2008. It was held in the Australian National University, Canberra. The workshop was participated by inter national, inter state and local subject matter experts.  Six papers on various topics related to Nepal were presented in the workshop, which were followed by discussion by the participants.  The proceedings of the workshop of the workshop can be found here.
 
  • ‘2008 Multicultural Summit – Australian Capital Territory Government organised a one day Multicultural Summit on Saturday 30 August 2008 with the theme “Shaping a Multicultural Canberra 2009 – 2012”.  Dr. Amarottam Shrestha (President) and Dr. Krishna Hamal (Vice President) represented the ANFS in the summit.
